We do journalism because we have some glimmer of hope that we can bring about some social change and make more people happy, although others will be angered along the way. We don’t do it for money, but we do it because we hope that someone can hear these stories.Perhaps we do it because we feel good ourselves, hearing the stories of others firsthand. There’s so much that we can’t fit into a story, so many good quotes that just didn’t make it. But we retain those stories, those people, in our minds. We know the full picture, and our lives are enriched by that. We have gained knowledge that we can share with others. We have gained connections that we hope society can benefit from. We keep the record of the world so that even if people don’t care about it now, they will discover these stories later. We write to keep the conversation going.
