When Shen the tyrannical peacock is about to die in Kung Fu Panda 2, he asks Po a pivotal question: “How did you find peace?”
“I scarred you for life,” Shen says.
“Scars heal,” Po replies
Shen responds that no, only pain can heal. Scars cannot.
Yet as Po, through Tai Chi and the lessons of his Sifu, obtains inner peace, he can conquer his scars and Shen.
Both characters thus demonstrate that one’s spirit is more valuable than the physical aspects of life.
Inner peace, as Po realizes, can yield both power to overcome his childhood hurts and his physical enemies later in life. But while, in the movie, Po finds inner peace through nature and Chinese philosophy, true peace can only be obtained from Christ Jesus.
Do you have this peace?
“And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:7
