When walls and floors come up overnight on a weekend, something must be happening. Yesterday when I walked out of New World Mall’s Main St. entrance, the floor was still unfinished and supermarket employees could still be seen handling produce on the sides. Now their movements are hidden by a wall — and a lacquered wall at that. The floor has also been covered with brown tiles, which generate an air of grandeur.
Construction of other parts of the mall has also progressed since my visit yesterday. The food court remains unopened, with the escalators heading down to it taped off with caution signs, but the restaurant appears fully open for business.
The mall thrives with people on this beautiful Saturday afternoon, and I hope these crowds will encourage the owners to maintain the polished environment they aspire to create.
